Rio Fashion Week 2045 opened beneath a veil of mystery and speculation. The conspicuous absence of Popess Pretoria I—expected to attend and present three exclusive dresses designed in her honour—dominated conversations backstage and drew intense press attention.

Rumours of a possible kidnapping circulated behind the scenes, fuelled by growing tensions between the Macroregions and the persistent threat of extremist groups. Others whispered about a mysterious illness, speculating that exposure to Elohim technology might have caused unforeseen side effects.

Despite the absence of the woman at the centre of the event, the three dresses, created by renowned Rio designers, stole the show.

The first, “Urban Amazon”, brought together breathable technological fabrics and prints inspired by Amazonian flora. Vivid colours, an asymmetric cut and luminous fibre-optic details created a striking silhouette, expressing the strength and beauty of the Brazilian woman of the future.

The second, “Carioca Crystal”, paid tribute to Rio’s modernist architecture. A translucent metallic mesh followed the contours of the body, reflecting the city lights like a many-faceted prism. A plunging neckline and flowing skirt added sensuality and elegance.

The third, “Celestial Ascension”, was the most enigmatic and opulent. Natural silk dyed with bioluminescent pigments emitted a soft, ethereal glow, surrounding the model with a mystical aura. Gold embroidery traced constellations and ancestral symbols, evoking the Popess’s connection to the cosmos.

Pretoria I’s absence left a void at Rio Fashion Week, but the dresses made in her honour demonstrated the imagination and talent of Brazilian designers. Uncertainty over her whereabouts nevertheless cast a shadow over the event, reflecting the political instability and unresolved mysteries of the Macroregions.
